Why do you call the frosting butterscotch? That's the key word that got my attention, however, where does the butterscotch come in to play? I'm no cook- love to bake- little experience- is it possible to add butterscotch flavoring? Do they make a liquid butterscotch flavoring? THANK YOU! Vicki

Yes, there is a butterscotch flavoring. I think you could also add Jello butterscotch pudding to the icing to get the flavor you want. I thought I might also at some butterscotch morsels. I really like the idea because it made me think outside the box, thanks for sharing.

Hi Vicki, I'm the author of the recipe, and thanks for your question about it being called butterscotch. Butterscotch is a type of confectionery whose primary ingredients are brown sugar and butter, and then cream. The frosting is made on butter, brown sugar and philly/cream cheese in place of sweet cream. I'm sure there is a liquid flavouring available, or you could try melting butterscotch lollies and once cooled but still liquid, try folding it into the cream cheese. Happy baking, Ingrid
